COMPANY
Biodol Therapeutics, founded in 2015, develops first-in-class compounds for the treatment of chronic pain (CP). Biodol Therapeutics has identified the Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTK) FLT3 as a key player for triggering and maintaining the chronic neuropathic pain (NP) state. New findings from Biodol Therapeutics' academic partnership (Cyril Rivat and Jean Valmier at the INSERM Institute for Neurosciences in Montpellier) also demonstrated that FLT3 inhibition increases the potency of opioids for their analgesic effect and inhibits opioid-induced tolerance, hereby reducing their safety risks, which will help fighting the Opioid Crisis. The development of extracellular inhibitors of the FLT3 receptor, is a proprietary and key approach developed by Biodol Therapeutics.
STRATEGY
Biodol Therapeutics made a breakthrough discovery on the origin and maintenance of NP. Biodol Therapeutics specifically demonstrated that FLT3 is necessary and sufficient to generate experimental NP in animals. Most importantly, Biodol Therapeutics showed that inhibiting FLT3 reduces allodynia, pain hypersensitivity and spontaneous pain, the three main symptoms of NP, without affecting normal nervous system functioning (Nature Communications 2018). Moreover, recent discoveries by Biodol Therapeutics' academic partnership (Cyril Rivat - Jean Valmier at the INSERM Institute of Neuroscience of Montpellier) and Biodol Therapeutics extend the scope of indications to those amenable to treatment with opioids, which could be improved (morphine-dose sparing). This latter advance significantly expands the targeted market, especially in the US, which is fighting the Opioid Crisis. Biodol Therapeutics owns the exclusive rights on a portfolio of 4 patents including an international one claiming the use of any FLT3 inhibitor to treat NP, granted in the United States and Europe, composition-of-matter patent and one protecting the use of any FLT3 inhibitor in combination with opioids.

Biodol Therapeutics operates preclinical development of innovative and proprietary FLT3 inhibitors (BDT compounds). Biodol Therapeutics has already identified lead compounds which target the extracellular domain of receptor and are active in vivo to reduce NP symptoms.

Biodol Therapeutics has significant differentiating factors, which makes it a unique opportunity for investment and partnership:

PIPELINE
Biodol Therapeutics develops in parallel small-molecule FLT3 inhibitors
The first FLT3 inhibitors (first BDTs series) acting at the extracellular domain of FLT3, by inhibiting the binding of the ligand to FLT3 (Negative Allosteric Modulators) were derived from hits selected by virtual screening. Biodol Therapeutics has also identified new series of compounds derived from High-Throughput-Screening hits, which act with the same mechanism of action as first series. Currently, compounds in one series are at the Lead Optimization stage. BDTs have remarkable activity against neuropathic pain in all experimental models of nerve lesions. A single administration of BDTs completely reverses neuropathic pain when established, as measured by hyperalgesia, allodynia and spontaneous signs of pain and its effects last 48 hours. Moreover, BDTs strongly potentiate morphine analgesia and completely abolish morphine-induced tolerance and hyperalgesia, which results in morphine-dose sparing. BDTs are developed as injectable or oral forms for pain conditions, including neuropathic pain.
